The bearded lizard or bearded dragon is an insectivorous lizard of the Agamidae family. Bearded dragons are native to Australian semideserts, woodlands, and scrublands. The natural color of these lizards is dominated by gray, brown and yellow tones. A triangular head with a scaly “beard” and a body covered with spikes give the Australian lizard a resemblance to a dragon—hence, by the way, their popular name.
