How to Draw a Horse
- Draw the outline of the head.
The horse’s head is an elongated figure with rounded corners. Use curved lines to outline the pointed ear. Also add an oval shaped eye.
- Detail the head.
Next, you need to draw an eyebrow, a smile, and the inside of the ear in the form of an arcuate line. Then add rounded pupil and nostril.
- Draw a mane.
Use curved lines to enclose overlapping shapes. The edges can be made both rounded and curled, and with sharp corners, as shown in the example.
- Add a horse bit element.
Depict two pairs of vertical lines and connect with a pair of horizontal lines as shown in the step. This will create a horse’s bridle. Also add the second ear of the horse, which is drawn in the shape of a leaf.
- Draw the neck and body of the horse.
To draw the neck, depict the horizontal straight line from the head down, which will smoothly turn into an oval figure, which will be the body of the animal.
- Add the legs.
Next, move on to drawing the front and back legs of the horse. The legs are elongated, where the upper part is wider.
- Depict the second pair of legs.
Draw the second pair of legs in the same way.
- Add the tail and leg details.
The tail of a horse resembles a mane in shape. It is also necessary to detail the legs and add hooves, so draw horizontal lines at the bottom of the legs.
- Color your artwork.
To complete, you need to color in the drawing of the horse. You can choose colors as shown in the guide, or get creative and use your own colors.
