How to Draw a Butterfly
- Draw the head.
First, draw the oval shape, and then add two antennas at the top.
- Draw the body.
At the bottom of the head, add the body of the butterfly in the form of a more elongated oval.
- Draw the forewings.
On each side of the upper part of the butterfly, draw wings, focusing on the example instructions.
- Draw the hind wings.
Draw the hind wings of the butterfly in the same way.
- Start detailing the wings.
Within each wing, add curved lines from the head and body.
- Add the details of the front wing.
Add smaller curved lines in the same way.
- Add some more details.
Draw straight lines that are located between the previously drawn curved lines and the outlines of the wings.
- Finish drawing the wings.
Add round shapes along the outline of the wings.
- Color your drawing.
Butterflies come in almost any color, so you can use our example, or use your favorite colors and create a unique pattern.
