How to Draw a Bison

In this tutorial, I will show you how to draw a bison step by step. Drawing is a wonderful way of self-expression and creativity. Bison are powerful animals that have interesting shapes and textures, making them great drawing subjects. These animals at first glance may also resemble a buffalo. Regardless of your level of drawing skills, we will start with basic shapes and gradually add all the necessary details to create a complete drawing.

How to Draw a Bison
- Top of the head.
Draw the top of the bison’s head. On the left, add wavy bangs.
- Draw the forehead and horn.
Under the bangs, draw the forehead using two elongated lines, which are connected at the bottom with a horizontal line. Also, draw the horn a little to the right, which in its shape resembles a drop.
- Head details.
At this step, you need to add the main details of the head and face: nose, mouth, eye and ear.
- Finish drawing the head.
Using a series of short lines, complete the bison’s head. The beard can be drawn with a wavy line.
- Draw the body.
Next, you need to draw the powerful body of the animal. Note that the bison has the large hump.
- Body texture.
Draw the shape with short lines as shown in the instructions, this way you will give the animal a more textured and fluffy look.
- Draw the legs.
Draw two front and one back legs. Note that part of the front legs is hidden behind the fur.
- Draw the leg and tail.
Next, you need to draw another hind leg and the long tail.
- Detail the legs and tail.
At the bottom of the legs, add horizontal lines to separate the hooves. You also need to add a horizontal line on the tail.
- Color your drawing.
Using brown and orange colors in different shades, color in the buffalo drawing.
