These animals have the ability to actively fly. The presence of double breathing, feathers for streamlining, high body temperature, light skeleton and many other structural features of birds contribute to the fact that these animals fly perfectly over long distances.
Birds are a class of vertebrates whose representatives are well characterized by the fact that their body is covered with feathers and their forelimbs are modified into wings, which are a means of flying. There are also birds with underdeveloped wings.
Such birds do not know how to fly, for example, these are chickens or ostriches. For movement on the ground, birds use their hind limbs—legs. Thus, birds, unlike all other terrestrial vertebrates, are bipedal animals.
Let’s get down to the steps. We hope that this lesson will be useful for you and help you draw a bird.

How to Draw a Bird
- Draw the head.
Begin your easy bird outline by drawing the animal’s head. You need to trace a semicircle, which will be straight from the bottom. To begin with, following the example from the step, depict a straight line from below, then draw a semicircle of the head. Then you need to depict the outline of the eye as shown in the step.
- Add details.
Begin to detail the bird’s face. Depict a small circle in the eye, which is the pupil. After that, add the small eyebrow above the bird’s eye using a slightly curved line. For the beak, draw two elongated lines. The top line should be bent to create the shape of the beak, and the bottom line should be more even. Finally, detail the beak by adding a dividing line, as in the example.
- Draw the wing.
Next, outline the bird’s wing. Use two long lines to trace the sides of the wing. As you can see in the example, the top side of the wing should be drawn with a straight line and the bottom of the wing with a curved long line.
- Wing and tail details.
In this step, you must texture the bird’s wing by adding a line in the same way as shown in the example. This line repeats the curve of the wing, but is drawn not in a pointed form, but in a rounded one. At the end of this step you need to depict the bird’s tail. Extend two parallel lines that join into a single tail shape.
- Draw the body.
In this step, you need to form the body of the bird by connecting the head and the rest. Depict the bird’s chest and belly using a long curved line that you need to start from under the bird’s head.
- Detail the body.
You have drawn the bird’s body, and now you need to detail your bird by adding lines to its feathers. Detail the bird in a simple way by simply adding lines all over the body. Look at the example and repeat these shapes. In addition to the body of the bird, you need to add details to the bird’s tail.
- Add legs.
Complete your easy bird outline by drawing the legs. Extend three lines from under the body of the bird. Then depict the feet of the bird in the same way as shown in the example. The shape of the bird’s legs resembles an inverted T.
- Leg details.
Finish drawing the bird’s legs by adding sharp claws on its feet. Such small details make any drawing more natural and pleasant. Check the whole sketch again, and if you made any mistakes, then correct by following the steps.
- Color your easy bird drawing.
Color your cute cartoon bird. We’ve shaded our bird illustration with grey, a common color for many birds. Some birds have a unique color, and if you want to supplement unusual details to the color of a bird, then use your imagination. Note that the bird’s belly, upper body, wings, and tail have different shades. Birds are unique in their colors, and that is what makes them so amazing and beautiful.
