The bald eagle is the national bird of the United States, symbolizing strength, power, and freedom. This species of eagle lives only in North America.
As a rule, the habitat of bald eagles was associated with the location of nearby water bodies. Bald Eagle control an area up to 11 kilometers long along the coastline, while a pair of eagles requires a reservoir of up to 8 hectares. The habitat is mainly associated with the availability of food.
If with the onset of winter, the reservoir is covered with ice, then the bald eagles move south to the reservoirs that are not covered with ice. They prefer to migrate alone, although they spend the night more often as part of a group.
As a rule, this flying predator prefers to hunt in shallow water. Noticing its prey, the bald eagle dives on it, after which it grabs the prey with its tenacious limbs. In a straight flight, this predator accelerates to a speed of 60 km / h on average, and when diving, the speed can reach more than one hundred km / h.
